TOKYO WEATHER
When we think of rain, we usually think of cities like London and Seattle. Surprisingly, Tokyo can go through long periods of precipatation during what is known as rainy season. (There are several wet spells a year, but the rainy season refers to roughly late June to early July, even though there is actually -- historically -- more rain in September/October .) Spend some time here and you'll understand why umbrellas are such popular items (they are sold in most convenience stores!). Look at a newspaper or TV forecast and you'll notice the prominence of the "chance of rain" statistic, even during the "dry" months. This figure, given in percentages, is considered more important than temperature, and is often discussed first.
